千年前，西域人通过丝绸之路来到长安经商。炖羊肉汤时，人们将干硬的小面饼“饦饦馍”掰碎煮入汤中，称之为“羊羹”，这是羊肉泡馍的前身。

During the Tang Dynasty, the ancient Silk Road spanned thousands of miles. It stretched from Chang'an through the Hexi Corridor, Xinjiang and Central Asia to the eastern coast of the Mediterranean, and it was a conduit for thousands of foreigners traveling to Chang'an to trade and to study.

在当时，自长安经河西走廊、新疆、中亚直到地中海东岸数千公里的古“丝绸之路”，每年都有大批外国人来到长安进行贸易、求学。

One thing those travelers brought with them for nourishment was flat bread, and for many this tasted better when it was added to mutton soup, the prototype of today's yangrou paomo.

往来的商旅在漫长的丝绸之路上以面饼充饥。他们发现把面饼加入羊汤里，风味更佳。于是就有了千年后的这碗“羊肉泡馍”。

后来，羊肉泡馍成为陕西一绝，有“天下第一碗”的美誉。一句“三千万秦人齐吼秦腔，一碗羊肉泡喜气洋洋”，表达了陕西人对羊肉泡馍的喜爱，更展现了陕西人的豪迈和热情。上世纪80年代，泡馍甚至进入国宴，成为招待宾客的特色菜肴。

这一碗热气腾腾的泡馍，结合了西域与中原的美食精华，从曾经滋养丝路商旅，到如今荣登国宴餐桌、招待四海宾客，成为丝绸之路上不同文明互相学习、不断交融的生动缩影。进入新的世纪，随着“一带一路”倡议的提出，全球掀起了共建人类命运共同体的新高潮。不同肤色的人们有了更加深入的交流，不同文明在求同存异中有了更新的发展。
